S3E6: Plotting vs Pantsing in Epic Fantasy with Author Todd Fahnestock

Today I talk with Epic Fantasy author Todd Fahnestock about writing with a carefully planned story, “plotting,” vs flying by the seat of one’s pants, “pantsing,” also called discovery writing. While I’m more of a plotter, Todd favors largely pantsing it.

You can find his exciting books at https://toddfahnestock.com/ . By the way, he has a new book coming out next Wednesday, February 6, 2024! It’s called Slayter and the Dragon. It centers around Slayter, a mage who is a genius but lacks normal levels of social awareness. I’m actually reading it right now as an advance reader. I kind of identify with Slayter with his awkwardness. It’s engaging and interesting. I can’t wait to see how it turns out, so check it out!

S3E5: What is a Beta Read? With Author T.S. Pedramon

Solo episode: I discuss what beta reading is, as a concept on its own, and in context with my imminent novel, Nightshade Unicorn: Forerunner.

By the way, the Kickstarter campaign ends in just a few days! You can support the effort on Kickstarter.

S3E4: Exploring Magic Systems with Clark Rowenson, the Magic Engineer

Today’s episode is an conversation with author and Magic Engineer Clark “C.R.” Rowenson. It’s a terribly interesting conversation if I say so myself, because we dig into some factors that an author may consider when building a world and magic system. Clark Rowenson has his own YouTube channel, and you can also find him at the links below.

Also, the Kickstarter campaign for “Forerunner” is live for 1 more week! It’s already sitting at 209% funded, but I’m still excited to share the project with everyone. You can check it out on Kickstarter at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/grendhill/nightshade-unicorn-forerunner-an-epic-fantasy-tale. If you can’t follow or copy the link, I posted a convenient button at nightshadeunicorn.com. Thank you to everyone for your support!

Check in next Thursday for an interview with Todd Fahnestock about plotting vs “pantsing” in epic fantasy!
